Cinder Hill Engine House

The excavation on the site known as 'Bottoms' began in 2013 where we hoped to uncover the truth to the story of a late 18th century engine house located in the bottom of Holcombe Valley. The project took five years to complete and uncovered evidence of both the industrial phase but also the domestic phase of activity that began when the engine house was converted around 1825 to a set of three workers cottages.
